This is our 7-day travel itinerary for Austin, Texas in December 2020 – everything we ate, drank, and did! We were supposed to spend only 3 days in Austin but due to some COVID-related change of plans, we stayed longer. Austin really is similar to St. Petersburg, Florida with regards to its food diversity, quirky art scene, and small city-big personality vibe!
Day 1: Arrival
We stayed at The Driskill which was walking distance from some bars including Parlor & Yard, Unbarlievable, and The Rustic Tap. Rainey Street is the even more bustling place to go out so we also Uber’ed there and hit up food trucks including Tacobaby and Monk’s Momo. We also hit up a couple other bars including Lucille’s Patio Lounge.
Day 2
A travel itinerary for Austin, Texas is not complete without Voodoo Donut (which we hit up multiple times). For brunch we checked out Pueblo Viejo, a taco spot set up in a small concert venue. We hit up the Museum of Weird just for fun even though it was touristy and checked out the Congress Building from afar. Blanton Museum was our next stop followed but delicious Indian food at Clay Pit Indian restaurant.
We headed home to change and get ready for the night, and made it to the Congress Bridge to watch the bat emergence at dusk, but they never came out because it was too cold! Then we walked over to Butler Metro Park where Ronak proposed! He made reservations at Uchi for that night, there is also a sister restaurant called Uchiko. Uchi was one of the best, most delicious and beautiful dining experiences we have had in the States thus far, highly recommend.
Day 3
We walked over to Onetaco for brunch and mostly lounged all day and took the time to call friends and family about the news. Wonderbar at The Domain was a stop just for the ‘gram but fun nonetheless. After doing some Google reviews searching, we stumbled upon the AMAZING Desano Pizza. We then drove through the Austin Trail of Lights holiday lights exhibit.
Day 4

Day 5
We checked out Bouldin Creek Cafe, walked the river place trail, and checked out Foodheads. For dinner we went for Indian again at G’raj Mahal and it was so good! Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a HUGE fan of speakeasies, so we checked out Firehouse Lounge Speakeasy and Floppy Disk (where I have one of my favorite photos of Ronan and this quote that was my phone background for the longest time). There was also Midnight Cowboy speakeasy which we did not get a chance to check out (next time!).
Day 6-7
The last two days we went back to The Domain to shop, ate from the food truck Coat & Thai, and raided Trader Joe’s for Austin’s famous Best Maid Sour Pickle Beer, it was delicious! The last meal we had before we left was banh mi’s from Saigon le Vendeur.
