Haunted Carnival in Tampa – Shaq and Steve Aoki!

My gym buddy and friend Christie told me about this event and I had to check it out after she mentioned Steve Aoki would be DJ’ing! I couldn’t believe it, tickets were only $15 per person. It ended up being a full-on carnival with essentially all the same vendors we would find at the Florida State Fair, plus a “scare zone” that was cheesy but honestly really cute. We saw Shaq “DJ DIESEL” from afar (very easily because he’s gigantic) on the DJ stage set-up just like at EDCas well as Steve Aoki himself and we really enjoyed the music since they were playing so many familiar songs and not just straight EDM. We ate some fried Oreo balls (egg-free!) and fried cheese curds (too fried for me but hey it was still cheese) and Ronak even won me the softest stuffed llama for breaking 3 vinyl records with a ball. Although we missed Halloween on Central in St. Pete which I think ultimately would have been more my vibe, I’m so happy we went to check out something different!!!

Constructive criticism: There could have been more Halloween-themed foods, attractions, and decorations instead of setting up exactly like the state fair. I honestly didn’t mind not paying for VIP since we could see the stage almost as well as if we had. The QR code for photo booth at the end of the scare zone did not work, which I was super bummed about because there was a guy there dedicated JUST for taking pics with Halloween props in front of a backdrop!

Tickets were found at Pied Piper Productions and I’m interested to see what other productions they put together in Tampa Bay.
