I had the surprise pleasure of meeting a very unassuming Califloridian on the way to the airport to (of course) California. Larry the Lyft driver lived in California for 18 years in the Long Beach, Santa Maria, and San Jose areas. He says he misses the terrain/elevations as well as the diversity of the population and the food the most, a very familiar story to us (loL). He says “the people in Florida are dumber,” however he is not a beach person but loves the water here which I totally feel. He also does admit that the Thai food in Florida is decent as far as Asian food goes. We also had side discussions of his crazy ex-wife who was a Mexican woman and French pastry chef living in the French Alps (where they met) and trained his palette to decipher natural from artificial vanilla and almond, needless to say pastries are ruined for him forever. He is hoping to retire in Ecuador, Costa Rica, or Puerto Rico.
