9 Unique Things to do in St. Petersburg and Tampa, Florida (That are Not Markets or Museums)

Of course St. Pete and Tampa have activities available in most cities such as escape rooms, axe throwing, archery, and rock climbing. However, these are activities (relatively) unique to the area. They are worth checking out when you want to do something different in a group or when people are visiting! Here are 9 unique things to do in St. Petersburg and Tampa, Florida.

Candle Pour

Engage in a hands-on candle-making experience at a local Candle Pour shop. The original location is in Hyde Park, Tampa, however they are opening a new location in St. Pete’s Edge District. You can choose a mix of scents and containers to create a personalized and aromatic candle. I love my Earl Grey, white tea and Maple candle “Warm Tea Blend!”

Warehouse Arts District Art Walk

If you have a passion for art, explore the vibrant Warehouse Arts District in St. Petersburg during their monthly Art Walk. This event allows you to visit numerous art galleries, studios, and boutiques, showcasing the works of local artists. It’s a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the thriving arts scene and maybe even purchase some unique pieces. And everyone is always so nice!

Sewing Class with Tampa Bay Sewcial Club

The Factory is a creative hub in St. Petersburg that offers various workshops and classes. Take a sewing class here with Tampa Bay Sewcial Club to learn the basics or enhance your sewing skills while creating something special under the guidance of experienced instructors. I made a pouch that is actually functional and a spooky coaster!

Pottery Class at Atelier St. Pete

Join a pottery class at Atelier St. Pete, a studio dedicated to ceramics and pottery. Learn the art of shaping clay on the potter’s wheel and hand-building techniques, and paint your very own creations. Kayla is the best instructor and makes everyone feel very comfortable. This is a great spot to host a private event with a group of people!

Keel & Curley Farms

In addition to the Keel & Curley Farms, you can also visit the Keel & Curley Winery in Plant City, just outside Tampa. Take a tour of the winery and enjoy a wine tasting session, where you can sample a variety of their delicious fruit wines. The wine flight is fun and there are both beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.

Tour & Tasting at Kozuba & Sons

Expand your spirits tasting experience by visiting Kozuba & Sons Distillery in St. Petersburg. Join a guided tour of the distillery and sample their premium spirits, including vodka, rum, and whiskey. There is even a Groupon available!

Zen Glass Studio Class

Embrace your artistic side by attending a glass flameworking class at Zen Glass Studio in St. Petersburg. Learn the art of flameworking from skilled artisans and create your unique glass piece to take home. We only made the stems of the glasses but it was a cool experience nonetheless. Morean glass studio also offers classes.

Kayak at Weedon Island

Explore the natural beauty of Weedon Island Preserve by kayaking through its serene waterways. This protected preserve offers abundant wildlife, mangroves, and scenic views, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and kayaking enthusiasts. Ecomersion makes the kayak rentals easy!
